Ben Tate Cle - RB
News: Tate (knee) returned to practice Tuesday, the Akron Beacon Journal reports. (Sep 30)
Impact: Tate has missed the Browns' past two games due to a sprained knee suffered in Week 1. However, coming off Cleveland's bye week, Tate returned to the practice field Tuesday, which bodes well for his chances of playing against the Titans this Sunday. If that proves to happen, Tate is expected to reclaim his starting running back position, which would result in rookies Terrance West and Isaiah Crowell being relegated to more complementary roles. While Tate's fantasy owners should feel encouraged about his progress, his status should still be monitored leading up to Sunday's game in Tennessee to ensure he's indeed available to play. Kyle Orton Buf - QB
News: Orton will start Week 5 against the Lions. (Sep 29)
Impact: Coach Doug Marrone will sit EJ Manuel and his scattershot arm on the bench for at least a week. We're sure the Bills aren't giving up on Manuel, but this is a team with an excellent running game and a good defense, and Marrone must want to see if Orton can give them a boost. Manuel hasn't been terrible, but he's become too reliant on the check-downs, has trouble in the red zone, and misses his mark too often. OK. so he's been kind of terrible. Orton has a pretty tough challenge ahead, facing a strong Lions defense in Detroit, but if he performs decently the journeyman may just be able to hold onto the job for a bit. Brandon Marshall Chi - WR
News: Marshall (ankle) is active for Sunday's game against the Packers, Michael C. Wright of reports. (Sep 28)
Impact: Marshall entered Sunday's contest listed as questionable after failing to practice all week, but he may have been held out as a measure to afford him adequate recovery time from the balky ankle that's been bothering him since Week 1. Though Marshall has been able to remain a useful fantasy commodity by scoring four touchdowns in his first three games, his yards per catch have fallen from 12.9 last season to 8.9 so far in 2014, suggesting the injury is compromising his ability to separate from defensive backs on deeper routes. If Marshall fails to find paydirt Sunday, it might be difficult for him to make up for it with volume. (Source: RotoWire / Time: 11:38a ET)

News: Whitehurst will start Sunday's game in place of the an injured Locker (wrist), ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. (Sep 28)
Impact: Whitehurst will see his first action of the season, and his first start since 2011, with Locker unable to go. He will take on a Colts team that ranks 28th in the league against the pass through three weeks, but is 13-4 at home with Andrew Luck at quarterback. (Source: RotoWire / Time: 8:45a ET)

Jake Locker Ten - QB
News: Charlie Whitehurst will start Sunday's game in place of an injured Locker (wrist), ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. (Sep 28)
Impact: Locker's wrist is apparently still sore, so he will give way to Whitehurst on Sunday. The report does not specify whether he will be inactive, but that presumably will be the case. Fantasy owners relying on Locker will want to identify a different option for Week 4. (Source: RotoWire / Time: 8:36a ET)

Delanie Walker Ten - TE
News: Walker (shoulder) will be active for Sunday's game against the Colts, ESPN's Adam Schefter (Sep 28)
Impact: Walker missed Wednesday's practice due to the shoulder injury, but he was able to get in enough work over the next two days to suit up in Week 4. He will have a different quarterback throwing him the ball Sunday, as Charlie Whitehurst will get the start in place of the injured Jake Locker (wrist). (Source: RotoWire / Time: 8:32a ET)

Calvin Johnson Det - WR
News: Johnson (ankle) will be active for Sunday's game against the Jets, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. (Sep 28)
Impact: Johnson was listed as questionable for Sunday's game, but he will be able to take the field as he usually does. He currently sits fourth in the NFL with 329 receiving yards and will be looking for his first touchdown since Week 1. (Source: RotoWire / Time: 8:25a ET)

Jamaal Charles KC - RB
News: Charles (ankle) is listed as probable for Monday's game against the Patriots, BJ Kissel of Chiefs Live reports. (Sep 27)
Impact: Charles was able to practice each day Thursday through Saturday, so he will return to action after sitting out last week's game against the Dolphins. Head coach Andy Reid indicated that Charles was able to do everything he was asked during Saturday's practice session, so it seems likely he will be in line for his regular workload Monday night. Calvin Johnson Det - WR
News: Johnson (ankle) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Jets. (Sep 26)
Impact: Johnson's practice appearance Friday was just a limited practice, and it was his only practice showing this week. He seems to have a good chance to play Sunday -- he has a history of playing without much practice -- but his owners should definitely check back prior to Detroit's early kickoff. Calvin Johnson Det - WR
News: Johnson (ankle) took part in Friday's practice, Tim Twentyman of the Lions' official website reports. (Sep 26)
Impact: It's not clear how much work Johnson was able to get in Friday, but his participation alone is a positive sign after he sat out the previous two days. Expect an update on Johnson's status when the Lions release their final injury report of the week Friday afternoon. (Source: RotoWire / Time: 11:36a ET)

Calvin Johnson Det - WR
News: Johnson (ankle) didn't participate in practice Wednesday, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports. (Sep 24)
Impact: Through seven-plus years in the NFL, Johnson has averaged nearly one absence per season, as he's been deemed inactive on six occasions. However, his DNP at Wednesday's practice may have been a precautionary measure, meaning owners may have to wait out the week in order to learn his potential to take the field Sunday against the Jets at New York. Matt Cassel Min - QB
News: Cassel (foot) has been placed on injured reserve, the Vikings' official site reports. (Sep 24)
Impact: Cassel suffered several bone fractures in his foot during Sunday's game against the Saints and will now be out for the remainder of this season. As a result, rookie first-rounder Teddy Bridgewater will assume the Vikings' starting QB duties for the foreseeable future. (Source: RotoWire / Time: 10:14a ET)

Danny Woodhead SD - RB
News: Woodhead, who suffered a broken fibula Sunday, is headed to IR, according to Michael Gehlken of the San Diego Union-Tribune. (Sep 22)
Impact: With Ryan Mathews (knee) still out, Donald Brown figures to be a busy back for the Chargers in the coming weeks, with Branden Oliver on hand in a backup role. In any case, the team is certainly going to add running back depth sooner rather than later, with Marion Grice a candidate to be promoted from the team's practice squad and/or a free agent addition possibly on tap. Kyle Rudolph Min - TE
News: Rudolph will need surgery on his groin injury and will be out about six weeks, reports. (Sep 22)
Impact: Rudolph had an MRI after Sunday's game and apparently it showed significant damage. The Vikings don't have a clear receiving option at tight end with Rudolph out as Rhett Ellison is more of a blocker. MarQueis Gray could now have a larger role. Chase Ford may be called up from the practice squad as a result. The Vikings may just end up using more three- and four-receiver sets. (Source: RotoWire / Time: 2:02p ET)

Jonathan Stewart Car - RB
News: Stewart is dealing with what Joe Person of the Charlotte Observer describes as a severely sprained right knee. (Sep 22)
Impact: The report adds that Stewart won't practice until at least Friday, but the running back's Week 4 status looks cloudy, at best, for Sunday's game against the Ravens. With Mike Tolbert already ruled out for the game and DeAngelo Williams having been inactive in Week 3, the Panthers' RB depth is currently taxed, with moves to address that situation likely on tap as the week progresses. Blake Bortles Jac - QB
News: Entering in the start of the second half, Bortles completed 14-of-24 passes for two touchdowns and two interceptions, while adding 30 yards on the ground against the Colts on Sunday. After the game, Jaguars coach Gus Bradley said that Bortles would start the team's Week 4 matchup against the Chargers, Ryan O'Halloran of the Florida Times-Union reports. (Sep 21)
Impact: After vowing throughout the summer that Year 1 would be a redshirt one for Bortles, Bradley decided to change direction at quarterback, after Chad Henne took 13 sacks over his last six quarters and guided the Jaguars to only one touchdown over his last 30 drives. Bortles entered the game in the second half and gave considerably more life to the offense. A subpar supporting cast will probably prevent him to ascending beyond a No. 2 quarterback option in fantasy leagues this season, but Bortles should at least give the Jaguars a flicker of hope on the offensive end. Matt Cassel Min - QB
News: Coach Mike Zimmer indicated after Sunday's game against the Saints that Cassel has several fractured bones in his foot, NFL Network's Albert Breer reports. (Sep 21)
Impact: While there is no timetable attached to Cassel's recovery just yet, he'll obviously miss a good chunk of time, which sets the stage for Teddy Bridgewater to assume the Vikings' QB duties in the coming weeks. (Source: RotoWire / Time: 4:20p ET)

Jamaal Charles KC - RB
News: Charles (ankle) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Dolphins, ESPN's Adam Teicher reports. (Sep 21)
Impact: Though he practiced Thursday and Friday, Charles' ankle issue will keep him out of Sunday's game, which sets the stage for Knile Davis to lead the Chiefs' Week 3 rushing attack. (Source: RotoWire / Time: 3:02p ET)

Danny Woodhead SD - RB
News: Woodhead (right ankle) is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Bills, according to Ricky Henne of (Sep 21)

News: Jones-Drew (hand) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Patriots.   (Sep 21)

Arian Foster Hou - RB
News: Foster (hamstring) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Giants, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. (Sep 21)
Impact: Foster was questionable coming into the game after limited practices all week and he just didn't show enough in warmups to risk playing while banged up. Alfred Blue is expected to lead the backfield, with Jonathan Grimes and Ronnie Brown also likely to get touches. (Source: RotoWire / Time: 11:28a ET)

Jamaal Charles KC - RB
News: Charles (ankle) is not expecting to play Sunday,'s Ian Rapoport reports. (Sep 21)
Impact: Charles will test out his ankle during warmups, and could still suit up, but early indications are that he will not play in Week 3. If Charles sits out as anticipated, Knile Davis would serve as the Chiefs' starting running back in his place. (Source: RotoWire / Time: 9:43a ET)

Eric Decker NYJ - WR
News: Decker (hamstring) was a limited participant in practice Saturday and is listed as questionable for Monday's game against the Bears, Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reports. (Sep 20)
Impact: Although Decker did not practice Friday, he was seen running and cutting on the injured hamstring during the portion of practice open to the media. His ability to log a limited practice Saturday would seem to suggest his chances of playing against Chicago are at least slightly better than 50-50, especially after coach Rex Ryan said Decker didn't necessarily need to practice in order to play, but Mehta went on to say Decker will likely end up being a true game-time call. Josh McCown TB - QB
News: McCown will have a second opinion on his thumb and the Bucs may be without his services for an extended period, Fox Sports reports. (Sep 19)
Impact: The second opinion will include an MRI, as the Bucs fear that McCown may have suffered ligament damage during Friday's game. Mike Glennon will take over at quarterback in McCown's absence, while the expectation is that McCown will miss the Week 4 game against Pittsburgh, if not longer depending on what the test reveals. Doug Martin TB - RB
News: Martin (knee) is inactive for Thursday night's contest against the Falcons, Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times reports. (Sep 18)
Impact: Bobby Rainey is in line to start in place of Martin and is likely to receive plenty of touches against a Falcons' defense that has allowed five TDS on the ground, along with an average of 154.5 rushing yards through two games. (Source: RotoWire / Time: 7:03p ET)
