WWE Superstar Emma is reportedly set to return to TV soon.
Earlier in 2016, Emma made her return to the WWE main roster. She had went back to NXT for about one year after the first go-around on Raw and SmackDown flopped. This included a brief romantic relationship with Santino Marella, an arrest, and being dropped to the end of the division.
To reinvent herself, the Aussie used a darker gimmick in NXT, and formed an alliance with Dana Brooke. This would continue on the main roster, when the latter got called up after WrestleMania 32. However, in the succeeding days, Emma would suffer a back injury and undergo surgery in May. Brooke then aligned with Charlotte for the rest of her first WWE Women’s Championship reign, and the beginning of the second one.
It seems we’re going to see Emma return soon, though, as PW Insider reports she’ll be on the road with WWE “this coming week”. This didn’t note if she’d go to Raw or SmackDown.
Maybe there’s a plan for Emma and Dana to reunite. The latter woman has had tension teased with The Nature Girl for the past month, and Emma returning would fit a puzzle piece. These old friends could reform, and potentially go after the Women’s Champion.
Another angle could be Brooke looking to go back to her friend, but being declined due to the summer-long alliance with Charlotte. This could set up a feud between the former two.
If Emma goes to SmackDown, she would join a women’s division that has gotten plenty of time to shine. WWE could revisit the developing feud with Becky Lynch from the spring. The Irish Lass Kicker is the SmackDown Women’s Champion, so maybe we get a title feud out of this.
So, whenever Emma returns, how should she be used?
