WWE Cruiserweight Championship Unveiled at Cruiserweight Classic (Photo)
Triple H appeared before the WWE Cruiserweight Classic finals match began, and unveiled the Cruiserweight Championship. What does the belt look like?
The finals of the WWE Cruiserweight Classic saw TJ Perkins and Gran Metalik go head to head. Perkins defeated Kota Ibushi, and Metalik topped Zack Sabre Jr. to get to this point. This set up for an epic clash of styles, which had been seen throughout the evening.
Before this match began, Triple H, who put together this tournament, made a surprise appearance. He walked to the ring, and spoke about the CWC. However, one of the last things he mentioned was the unveiling of the new Cruiserweight Championship. This would be given to the winner of Metalik vs. Perkins, who are both signed for the WWE Raw cruiserweight division. The announcement got a big reaction from the Full Sail fans, as only the trophy had been previously announced for the winner.

Giving out this title in Perkins vs. Metalik makes plenty of sense. If this had included Ibushi or Sabre, it wouldn’t have been given out. These two aren’t going to be in Raw’s cruiserweight division, so there wouldn’t be a point in awarding it if they were in the finals.
The Cruiserweight Championship will join the Universal, Raw Women’s, Raw Tag Team, and United States titles on the Flagship Show. Five belts for the three-hour show is plenty, but the Cruiserweight Championship is necessary. The 10 competitors needed something to fight over, so putting a belt in play had been needed as a next step.
Now, we’ll see the new Cruiserweight Champion appear on Monday, September 19, when the cruiserweight debut on Raw. It will be a special night in Memphis, TN, and should add plenty to the Red Brand.
