Word association with “El Nino”

Sorry Major League Baseball – UFC lightweight superstar Gilbert Melendez is “not very interested” in the World Series this year. Maybe that’s because his hometown San Francisco Giants aren’t back to defend their title or maybe it’s because he’s got more pressing matters on his mind.

Saturday night, “El Nino” returns to action for the first time since losing a razor-thin split decision to then-champion Benson Henderson back in April, stepping into the cage with Diego Sanchez in a lightweight showdown that serves as the middle fight on this weekend’s UFC 166 pay-per-view main card.

Before departing for Houston, Texas, the former Strikeforce lightweight champion and Skrap Pack representative played a round of word association, giving his rapid-fire thoughts on organizations he’s fought for in the past (Strikeforce? Over!), friends and training partners like The Diaz Brothers and Ronda Rousey, UFC lightweight champ Anthony Pettis, and the man he’ll face at UFC 166.
