UFC Houston: Korean Zombie Set To Return on Super Bowl Weekend
After completing military obligations, the Korean Zombie is set to make his highly-anticipated return as UFC Houston’s headliner.
Chan Sung Jung, also known as “The Korean Zombie” by most fans is set to make his UFC return at Houston’s Toyota Center on Saturday, February 4, Super Bowl weekend across from ninth-ranked Dennis “The Menace” Bermudez.
It has been 1,486 days since we last saw Jung inside the octagon in his loss to Jose Aldo. It will be interesting to see what sort of shape and how much ring rust “Zombie” will look to carry with him.
A two-time Fight of the Year winner and one-time Submission of the Year winner, Jung will look to pick up where he left off in a high profile matchup.
Meanwhile, Dennis Bermudez who is currently looking to carry his momentum of a two-fight win streak and build on this matchup has took his previous two opponents to a decision. Currently ranked ninth, a win here could put him ever so close to the top five of the division.
Chan Sung Jung’s absence has been at the hand of Conscription, also known as mandatory military service or compulsory national service for two years.
In that time frame he has made himself a husband, opened his own gym in Korea, and seems to of found his own new home at The MMA Lab, most notably housing former UFC Lightweight Champion, Benson “Smooth” Henderson.
