UFC fighters tour Browns facility
Clevelanders are passionate about their city and even more passionate about their sports teams, and it’s no different for Strong Style Fight Team representatives and Cleveland natives Stipe Miocic and Jessica Eye.
Wednesday morning, Miocic and Eye joined UFC Hall of Famer Matt Hughes on a tour of the Cleveland Browns training facility in Berea, Ohio, getting decked out in Browns gear and getting to shake hands with Cleveland standouts Josh Gordon, Jordan Cameron, and Ahtyba Rubin along the way.
Miocic even showed off his passing chops, tossing a perfect 20-yard touchdown strike on the practice field.
While the fighters clearly had fun checking out how the NFL’ers prepare, their focus remains in the cage, and both are poised to make some noise in the coming months.
Eye made her UFC debut a winning one at UFC 166, earning the upset unanimous decision win over former Strikeforce women’s bantamweight champion Sarah Kaufmann in Houston. The victory vaulted the now 11-1 Eye into the Top 10 in the women’s 135-pound ranks, and definitely puts her “in the mix” going forward.
Sitting at No. 9 in the heavyweight rankings, Miocic’s name has been bandied about as a possible opponent for surging Brazilian heavyweight Gabriel Gonzaga. With Miocic coming off the biggest win of his career to date against Roy Nelson at UFC 161, and “Napao” having just knocked out Shawn Jordan at UFC 166, the match-up seems to make sense, and would establish the victor as legitimate threat in the UFC heavyweight division.
