UFC Fight Night 104 results: James Vick def. Abel Trujillo
Here’s how the lightweight matchup between Abel Trujillo and James Vick played out at UFC Fight Night 104.
Abel Trujillo (15-6-1 MMA, 6-2-1 UFC) was looking to build onto a three-fight win streak leading into this fight. James Vick (9-1 MMA, 5-1 UFC) was looking to rebound from his first loss in his pro career. Both fighters were scheduled to fight different fighters but their original opponents pulled out due to injury on the same day just a few weeks before the fight. In turn, UFC matchmakers scheduled Trujillo and Vick instead of looking for late replacements.
Round 1:
No touch of gloves and the fighters take the center of the octagon. Vick is using his reach and keeping Trujillo at bay. Trujillo rushes in and gets a takedown but Vick gets a guillotine to slow Trujillo down and gets back to his feet. Trujillo is having a hard time finding his range on the feet. Vick lands a straight right that hurts Trujillo and Trujillo is forced to clinch Vick as the bell sounds.

Round 2:
Trujillo lands a hard left hook to start the round. Vick is using front kicks to keep Trujillo at bay. Trujillo gets in and lands a big right hand. A takedown attempt is stuffed by Vick. Vick lands a uppercut and some knees as Trujillo rushes in. Vick gets a takedown and is threatening with an d’arce choke but Trujillo stays calm and eventually gets out. Vick goes right back to the choke but lets go and they get back to the feet. The round ends with Vick throwing a kick and Trujillo looking for a right hand.

Round 3:
Vick lands a flying knee that sends Trujillo stumbling back and clearly rocked. Trujillo answers with big haymakers as he is hurt. Trujillo lands a takedown and Vick is looking for a d’arce choke. Trujillo taps and the ref waves the fight off.
