UFC Fight Night 104 results: Curtis Blaydes dominates Adam Milstead
Prior to Super Bowl Sunday, the UFC runs Fight Night 104 with heavyweights Adam Milstead and Curtis Blaydes headlining the preliminary card
With the sports world in Houston for Super Bowl 51, the UFC is running its Fight Night 104 card from the Super Bowl host city. Heavyweights Adam Milstead and Curtis Blaydes headline the preliminary card looking to move up the heavyweight rankings.
Milstead enters the octagon with an 8-1 record. All eight of Milstead’s victories have been finishes. Milstead has six knockout and two submission victories and the Pittsburgh fighter won his UFC debut in May. But Milstead enters the octagon as the decisively smaller man, as he is giving up one inch in height and four inches in reach.
Curtis Blaydes has a career 6-1 record. In the UFC, Blaydes is 1-1 with his only loss coming in his UFC debut to No. 6-ranked heavyweight Francis Ngannou. Blaydes defeated Cody East in October by knockout. All six of Blaydes’ victories have come by way of knockout and he will be the much bigger man in the octagon. Blaydes weighed in 31 pounds heavier than Milstead.
Blaydes is the heavy betting favorite at -330, while an upset win by Milstead pays +270. Prior to the fight commentator Brian Stann said he believed that Blaydes has top ten heavyweight potential.
Round One:
Coming out to Mortal Kombat, Curtis Blaydes dominated Adam Milstead like it was a video game. Blaydes took down Milstead whenever he wanted. Blaydes opened with a double leg takedown, but Milstead got back to his feet. Blaydes took Milstead down again and again. Milstead’s right knee buckled and was clearly bothering him throughout the remaining minutes in the round. With his opponent grounded, Blaydes landed several strikes. After listening to his corner’s instructions, Blaydes landed several knees to Milstead’s butt. By the end of the round, Blaydes had taken Milstead down six times.
Does @RazorBlaydes265 realize Milstead is 230+ lbs?!?!? #UFCHouston pic.twitter.com/Hch2VBX30o

Round Two:
In between rounds, Jon Anik wondered if corner men should be more willing to throw in the towel. Stann pointed out how Milstead injured his right knee in the middle of the first round.
Round two gets underway, but does not last very long. Blaydes gets Milstead up against the cage and takes him down again. Milstead immediately goes down screaming. His right knee buckled again. Thankfully the ref stopped the fight immediately.
Official Scorecard: Curtis Blaydes defeats Adam Milstead – TKO (injury) Round 2 – 0:59
