UFC: Anthony Pettis Releases Statement on Car Fire
Former UFC champion Anthony Pettis described a trio of cars set on fire in front of his home on Thursday morning as a “cowardly act.”
The UFC featherweight took to Instagram to issue a statement on Friday regarding the fire.
“I am a fighter. I won’t be defeated by this. I am also extremely confused and saddened by the events that occurred. I am grateful that one one was harmed by this cowardly act. My life as well as my loved ones were put in danger.
I cannot understand why someone would want to hurt myself or my family. I will do everything I can to ensure that we find out who committed this crime and that they are prosecuted to the full extent of the law. I’m constantly defending my choice to stay in this city. Regardless of crimes that have been occurring lately, this is my home. I really hope the city thatI rep has my back on this one and helps by reporting anything they know about this. #teampettis #250k”
Milwaukee police believe that an unknown suspect set fire to two of the vehicles using an accelerant. The fire then spread to a third vehicle.
A witness on the scene told Fox 6 Now that he witnessed a vehicle speeding through the neighborhood.
“Right around the same time as that happened, there was kind of a large bang,” Carson Blaszak told Fox 6 Now.
“It was three cars caught on fire. I just, I ran outside, and I was hoping, you know, the house hopefully wasn’t gonna catch on fire.”
Police and Fire arrived quickly and the home nobody was hurt.
Sergio Pettis also took to Instagram to issue a statement of his own.
Milwaukee police has not identified any suspects as of this posting and ask that anyone with information regarding the crime contact them at (414) 935-7360.
