UFC announces 20th anniversary tour

Published Oct. 19, 2013 1:00 a.m. ET

The UFC will celebrate its 20th anniversary with a 20-day journey across North America, all leading into UFC 167 on Nov. 16.

UFC president Dana White made the announcement during the UFC 166 post-fight press conference in Houston.

The “20 Days to UFC 167” tour is set to begin in Denver, the site of the inaugural UFC event, which was held on Nov. 12, 1993 and sparked immediate interest in a spectacle that was then known as “ultimate fighting” but morphed into mixed martial arts. The tour will go on to visit numerous cities that have played a role in historic events as well as others that are being targeted for future shows.

It will end in Las Vegas, where the UFC will celebrate the milestone anniversary with a card headlined by UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre facing No. 1 contender Johny Hendricks.
