UFC 206: Anthony Pettis To Meet Max Holloway in Canada
A very important featherweight matchup has been added to the UFC’s return to Toronto.
If there was any current card that needed a couple extra big names added to it in order to boost its potential it would most certainly be this one. Luckily for Canadian fans UFC officials have done just that.
UFC 206 will now feature an extremely important 145-pound fight as former lightweight champion Anthony Pettis is set to take on rising star Max Holloway.
TSN first reported the news late on Wednesday with UFC officials confirming the booking via the website.
Pettis (19-5) snapped his three fight losing streak when he made his featherweight debut opposite Charles Oliveira in August. The losing streak that Pettis suffered started when he lost his 155-pound title to Rafel dos Anjos after which he dropped two decisions to Eddie Alarez and Edson Barboza.
Now in a new weight class his journey into possible title contention does not get any easier as he will now face Hawaiian phenom Max Holloway who is currently on a nine-fight winning streak. With a win over the streaking Hawaiian ‘Showtime’ would cement his place within the division and could well set himself up for a shot at the title.

Holloway (16-3) is now one of the best fighters in the world thanks to his impressive winning streak that date backs to August 2013 where he was last beaten by the current 145-pound King Conor McGregor.
Holding recent wins over Ricardo Lamas, Jeremy Stephens, Charles Oliveira and Cub Swanson, ‘Blessed’ has fast become a household name. Since the 2013 loss to McGregor the 24-year old has looked unstoppable and his form has finally got him into a position where with one more win he could be next in line to fight for the belt.
UFC 206 takes place Dec.10 from Toronto, Canada and is headlined by a light heavyweight title rematch between Daniel Cormier and Anthony Johnson. While no official co-main event has been set the matchup between Pettis and Holloway could easily fill that spot.
