TUF 20 cast member Angela Hill released from the UFC
"Ultimate Fighter" season 20 cast member Angela Hill has been released from the UFC following back-to-back losses to her former housemates Tecia Torres and Rose Namajunas.
Hill confirmed the news via Facebook with a message posted on Sunday.
"Last year in April I had my first MMA fight. 2 days later I flew out to Vegas and tried out for "The Ultimate Fighter". It's been a roller coaster ride and I proved to myself how strong I could be through the s--ttiest situations," Hill wrote.
"After two losses to top five ranked opponents I got the call that I've been released from the UFC. It's bittersweet, but I'll hopefully be able to stay more active outside the octagon and gain the (experience) I need to make my way back to that belt."
Hill joined "The Ultimate Fighter" season 20 with only that one professional fight on her record after mostly competing in Muay Thai kickboxing bouts prior to that.
Hill faced insurmountable odds on the show as she drew top seed and eventual champion Carla Esparza in her first bout before defeating Emily Peters-Kagan to get her first UFC win at the show's finale.
Hill then dropped those two fights in a row to Torres and Namajunas before the UFC opted to release her this past weekend. Counting the fight against Esparza, which is technically an exhibition bout since it doesn't count on an official record, Hill faced the current No. 2, No. 3 and No. 5 ranked fighters in her short stint in the UFC.
Not an easy road for any contender much less one working with only a single professional fight before joining the UFC.
Hill joins Lisa Ellis from the cast of "The Ultimate Fighter" season 20 to also be released from the UFC after recent fights.
