Travis Browne stops Brendan Schaub in first round at UFC 181
LAS VEGAS -- Not even a decisive win could stop the bad blood between heavyweight sluggers Travis Browne and Brendan Schaub on Saturday night at UFC 181. The two traded insults leading into their main card battle, and Browne continued the trash talk moments after beating Schaub by TKO.
Schaub took Browne down early, repeatedly, but "Hapa" managed to get back to his feet before dropping "Big Brown" with a big uppercut. "It's what I do," he said after the fight.
Brown passed Schaub's guard and got the mount while landing big ground strikes. Before long, the Hawaiian sunk both hooks in and took Schaub's back, pummeling him with punches until the referee was forced to stop the action at 4:50 of the first round.
With the win, Browne gets back on the winning track and improves his record to 17-2-1. The loss brings Schaub's career mark to 11-5.
