Top 10 fighters TJ Dillashaw and Takeya Mizugaki face off at UFC 173

A bantamweight bout between two of the division's best has been added to UFC 173 as TJ Dillashaw has agreed to meet Takeya Mizugaki at the upcoming card on May 24 from Las Vegas.

The fighters have verbally agreed to the matchup according to sources close to the bout when speaking to FOX Sports on Wednesday.

Dillashaw (9-2) enters the fight fresh off his win over Mike Easton in January with a goal of earning a bantamweight title shot before the end of the year.  Dillashaw has had only one setback lately and that was a split decision loss to current top ranked contender Raphael Assuncao in a razor close fight last October.

Now the Team Alpha Male fighter, currently ranked No. 5 in the world, will take on another top ten opponent with hopes that it will land him one step closer towards his ultimate goal of fighting for the belt.

Takeya Mizugaki (19-7-2) is currently riding a four fight win streak and he's also won five out of his last six bouts with the one loss ending in a controversial split decision.  The Japanese born bantamweight ranked No. 7 in the world has been itching to get into the Octagon with a top ten opponent, and now the UFC has appeased his wishes with the fight against Dillashaw in May.

The final lineup for the UFC 173 fight card has not been announced, but it's likely Dillashaw and Mizugaki will either get a main card slot or at worst a featured bout on the preliminary portion of the show since both fighters are currently sitting in the middle of the bantamweight top ten.
