Thiago Alves vs. Jordan Mein added to UFC 183: Silva vs. Diaz
Following a delay that postponed their fight in August, Thiago Alves and Jordan Mein have been matched back up together to face off at UFC 183 on January 31, 2015.
Alves was forced to withdraw from the original fight due to an injury while Mein stayed on the card and ended knocking out Mike Pyle in brutal fashion.
Now the Canadian, who boasts an impressive 29-9 record, will look to pick up his biggest win in the UFC. He takes on a former welterweight title contender, who is searching for consistency after injuries robbed him of two years of his career.
Alves (20-9) has bounced back and forth between wins and losses ever since he was defeated by Georges St-Pierre in his lone UFC title fight in 2009.
After recovering from a long layoff due to a series of debilitating injuries, Alves looked better than ever in a win over Seth Baczynski in April.
Alves will also look for his first two fight win streak since 2008 when he takes on another dangerous striker in Mein.
The upcoming fight between Alves and Mein will join the UFC 183 fight card, taking place on January 31. The show is headlined by former middleweight champion Anderson Silva against former UFC welterweight contender, Nick Diaz.
