UFC welterweight Tarec Saffiedine was forced earlier this year to pull out of a main event bout against Matt Brown because of a groin injury. UFC Tonight reports that Saffiedine underwent surgery to repair the groin on Tuesday, and that the procedure went well.
The operation was groin exploration with damage and nerve release. Saffiedine's doctors are reportedly telling him that he will need four to six weeks to recover, though the fighter will be able to put together a better timetable for his recover after meeting with a doctor next week.
Saffiedine last fought, and lost, to number one contender Rory MacDonald in October. Before that, he'd won five straight.
