Sam Alvey stuns Cezar Ferreira with first-round KO

Published Feb. 22, 2015 9:54 p.m. ET

Wisconsin's Sam Alvey scored a shocking first-round knockout Sunday night over Cezar Ferreira at UFC Fight Night in Porto Alegre, Brazil.

Ferreira controlled the action throughout the first of the middleweight contest, landing almost all of the total strikes, up until Alvey countered with a two-punch combination that ended the bout.

Ferreira jammed himself up a bit on an up elbow strike attempt when Alvey countered with an overhand right-left hook punch combination straight to the chin that knocked the Blackzilian out cold. The win is Alvey's second straight UFC win.

The 28-year-old has now won two out of three fights inside the promotion, and has improved his overall record to 25-6.

Ferreira had not fought since winning a decision in June. The loss is his second in three fights and drops the Sao Paulo, Brazil, native's record to 9-4.
