Ronda Rousey is no longer one of the top 15 fighters in the world
Ronda Rousey is no longer one of the top 15 UFC fighters in the world, but a women she's beaten twice is.
Rousey dropped out of the UFC's most recent pound-for-pound rankings list while newly minted women's bantamweight champion Miesha Tate cracked the top 15 for the first time in her career after her upset victory at UFC 196.
And that wasn't the only rankings shakeup after Saturday's big event.
Featherweight champion Conor McGregor dropped five spots after his shocking loss to Nate Diaz, which prompted a one-spot rise for current champions Fabricio Werdum, Rafael dos Anjos and Robbie Lawler and a jump to third by middleweight champion Luke Rockhold.
Fortunately for McGregor, the fight against Diaz was contested at a catchweight of 170 pounds, so the Irishman still holds the featherweight belt and his standing as the best 145-pound fighter in the world.
In all reality, pound-for-pound rankings don't mean much. They're more valuable promotionally than for matchmaking purposes and the rankings don't appear to be belt-weighted (five beltless fighters are ranked above strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk).
So Rousey is no longer one of the top 15 fighters in the world, and Tate is ... but that could all change when they face each other for the third time, hopefully sometime in 2016.
