Report: Rousey 'too violent' for Walmart to sell her book
By NESN Staff
Walmart apparently draws the line at mixed martial arts.
One of the biggest chain stores in the world won’t sell UFC champion Ronda Rousey’s upcoming book because the fighter is “too violent” for Walmart, according to the New York Post’s Page Six.
As many have pointed out already, Walmart has no problem selling firearms and ammunition, but Rousey’s mixed martial arts prowess apparently is too much for the store to handle.
“I’m shocked, shocked to discover that censorship is going on in America!” publisher Judith Regan said, likely with a bit of a sarcastic tone, according to the Post.
We’re guessing Rousey will do OK even without Walmart. Her book, “My Fight/Your Fight,” comes out May 12 and will be found in just about every store not named Walmart. In addition to the books and her UFC career, Rousey also recently appeared at WrestleMania and makes a cameo in the recently released “Furious 7″ movie. So again, she’ll probably be OK.
