Report: Fabricio Werdum ready to fight sooner than Dana White said he was
Last week, UFC president Dana White told the world that the heavyweight division was "tied" up until March because new champion Fabricio Werdum didn't want to fight again until then. "That's when Werdum wants to fight," the executive said with a shrug, at the UFC 191 post-fight press conference.
According to a report during FS1's UFC Tonight, however, Werdum wants to fight much sooner than that.
To be sure, Werdum had initially said this summer that he wanted some time off after his heavyweight title unification bout against Cain Velasquez. But according to the UFC Tonight report, Werdum’s management -- Dominance MMA -- let the UFC know that the champ would be ready to fight in December or January.
We're not sure what this discrepancy means for the timing of the next heavyweight title fight, but we do know that Werdum will be facing off against Velasquez again, and hopefully sometime in the near future.
