Edmonton police have arrested and charged two suspects in connection with the hit-and-run death of former UFC light-heavyweight fighter Ryan Jimmo.

According to a release from Edmonton Police on Wednesday, 23-year-old Anthony Getschel and 21-year-old Jordan Wagner were arrested after an investigation into a hit-and-run that occurred Sunday night that left Jimmo dead a few hours later.

Getschel was charged with second-degree murder, criminal negligence causing death, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death and failure to stop at scene of accident involving death.

Wagner was charged with accessory after the fact to murder.

Jimmo died "as a result of blunt force trauma after being run over by a vehicle," according to police, following an argument between the fighter and the two men in a parking lot late Sunday night in Edmonton.

Police say neither suspect arrested in connection to Jimmo's murder knew the fighter ahead of the altercation.

Jimmo was a seven-fight veteran of the UFC before being released from the promotion in 2015. He was a mainstay of the Canadian fight scene for most of his career and was also a champion in Maximum Fighting Championships.

Jimmo was 34 at the time of his death.
