Paige VanZant shooting for Sept. 5 fight at UFC 191
Rising strawweight star Paige VanZant has won her first two UFC fights in impressive fashion and knows when she wants to shoot for a third. UFC Tonight reported Wednesday that the 21-year-old wants to fight next at UFC 191 on Sept. 5.
Her management team, MMA Inc., has asked the UFC for that date, and they are optimistic that they'll get their wish. According to UFC Tonight's Ariel Helwani, the fighter's team believes that it is mostly a matter of who she'll fight, at this point.
Vanzant last fought and won in April, via decision over Felice Herrig. The win was her third straight, overall, and her second in the UFC.
The young member of Team Alpha Male made her UFC debut last November and beat Kailin Curran via dramatic third-round TKO. VanZant has said before that she's intent on breaking Jon Jones' record for being the youngest UFC championship titleholder.
She's got some time left yet to reach that goal and hopes the journey continues this early fall. We'll keep you posted with developments on this story as they occur.
