Matt Brown talks Nate Diaz: 'This is a fight for the fans'

It was announced on Wednesday that top-10 ranked welterweight Matt "The Immortal" Brown would return to action in July to face Nate Diaz in a featured bout at UFC 189.

Just minutes after the fight was announced, Brown, who co-hosts "The Great MMA Debate," talked about the Diaz matchup for the first time.

"This is a fight for the fans," Brown said. "They're probably going to make it the opening fight for the main card and that's where it belongs.  We're going to f---ing go at it.  This is the kind of fight I like.  This is the kind of fight you want your whole career."

Brown says he likes Nate Diaz, and his brother Nick for that matter, but when July 11 rolls around they are going to throw down until one of them is on the ground and unable to get up again.

Following two straight losses by decision, Brown is also determined to return to his winning ways and he plans to do it by making an example out of a lightweight who is venturing up to 170-pounds.

"I've got to make a statement. I've got to let you know all 155ers better stay where you're at," Brown said. "You can't be coming up to 170 thinking you're going to be doing work up here."
