Jordan Mein returns against Emil Meek at UFC 206
After a brief retirement, Jordan Mein has decided to return to the cage and he’ll be facing Emil Meek at UFC 206 in Toronto.
Back at the beginning of 2015, Jordan Mein faced Thiago Alves at UFC 183. For the majority of the fight, he was able to dominate, specifically in the first round. He utilized his technical striking to pick Alves apart on the feet and he hurt him on numerous occasions.
Then, in the second round, Alves landed a vicious kick to the body, which dropped Mein, and he finished him. Soon after this matchup, Mein announced that he was retiring from the sport, which was a shock for many fans everywhere when you consider the great potential he has.
Earlier this year, however, Mein expressed his desire to return to MMA competition (well, his father did). According to his father, he said, “I am happy he is enjoying training and wants to fight again. I feel he is one of the best out there.”
Now, coming off of this news, Mein has officially got his wish and will be welcoming Emil Meek to the UFC at UFC 206. MMA Fighting broke the news.
As stated before, Mein has all the potential in the world. He’s a technical striker with devastating knockout power and holds notable victories over fighters like Evangelista Santos, Dan Miller and Mike Pyle. He may have to shake off some ring rust against Meek, but expect him to prepare accordingly.
Meek is coming off of an impressive first round finish over UFC veteran Rousimar Palhares. He was originally scheduled to make his UFC debut at UFC Fight Night 93 against Jessin Ayari, but he was replaced by Jim Wallhead due to an issue with the UFC’s Anti-Doping Policy. He’ll be looking to make the most of this opportunity against Mein.
UFC 206 will be headlined by Daniel Cormier and Anthony Johnson and will go down on Dec. 10 at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto.
