Jones vs Teixeira headlines UFC 170
UPDATE: Jones vs. Teixeira pulled off UFC 170
Jon Jones has his next title defense set, as he will face Glover Teixeira at UFC 170 on Feb 22, 2014 from Las Vegas.
The official fight announcement comes courtesy of UFC Tonight when they broke the news about the UFC 170 main event on Wednesday.
The fight between Jones and Teixeira was originally rumored for earlier in February as part of the UFC 169 card taking place Super Bowl weekend in New Jersey, but the reigning light heavyweight champion opted to take a little more time off between fights and will now get back in action a few weeks later.
Jones will also be making a return to Las Vegas for a fight for the first time in over three years by the time he faces Teixeira in February. Jones' last fight there was a submission victory over Ryan Bader at UFC 126 — one month before he became light heavyweight champion.
Now Jones will get to headline a show in Las Vegas while attempted to extend his already record breaking title defense streak in the light heavyweight division currently standing at six in a row.
Teixeira will look to keep a streak of his own alive as he looks for win number 21 in a row while trying to become the first man to truly defeat Jon Jones.
