Alexander Gustafsson faces Jon Jones at UFC 165 this Saturday on PPV, but he didn't get here over night.
'The Mauler' exploded onto the UFC scene by violently knocking out Jared Hamman in his UFC debut, which opened up everyone's eyes to the fact that we had a potential contender on our hands here.
Hamman, having only been finished once in his career leading up to the Gustafssson fight, was regarded as a very tough opponent who would not be an easy fight for the Swede. Instead of being a close, tightly contested bout as many expected, Gustafsson absolutely tore through Hamman in less than one minute.
