Fight for the Troops predictions
In front of the big board on UFC Tonight, hosts Chael P. Sonnen and Kenny Florian make their predictions about the Fight for the Troops card on November 6th. The two fighters share a remarkably similar opinion the main event match-up between middleweights Tim Kennedy vs. Rafael Natal, but disagree on almost everything else.
“I like Tim Kennedy in this,” states Sonnen. “I think he controls position. I think we’re going to see a decision. I think Natal is going to concede position believing he can catch him in a submission. I just believe he’s wrong.”
Florian isn’t arguing the opposite as he too expects the wrestling and power of Kennedy to best the slick Brazilian jiu-jitsu game of Natal. “He’s so good at grinding his opponents down, I think it’s going to be Kennedy by decision as well,” adds Florian to Sonnen’s decision based comments. One would be lead to believe that the Special Forces Operator isn’t much of a finisher, which it’s quite the opposite with 13 of Kennedy’s wins coming by some form of stoppage (8 sub, 5 KO/TKO).
As for the rest of the main card, Sonnen and Florian are pretty much split on all four fights minus their pick of The Ultimate Fighter 15 winner Michael Chiesa over The Ultimate Fighter 16 winner Colton Smith. On one side of the debate, Sonnen has voted for Jorge Masvidal, Yoel Romero, and, in the co-main event, Alexis Davis. As mentioned, Florian chose the opposite candidates in Rustam Khabliov, Ronny Markes, and, the former US marine, Liz Carmouche.
