Demetrious Johnson vs. Henry Cejudo set as co-main event for UFC 197
Demetrious Johnson will look for his eighth consecutive flyweight title defense when he takes on Olympic gold medalist Henry Cejudo in the co-main event for UFC 197 in April.
Johnson has been one of the most active champions on the UFC roster with a string of impressive performances since first winning the belt in 2012.
Most recently, Johnson dispatched John Dodson for his second win of 2015 this past September after defeating Kyoji Horiguchi in April.
Now, Johnson will look to add another top flyweight to his résumé as he takes on one of the most accomplished wrestlers to ever step foot in the Octagon.
Cejudo is 10-0 in his MMA career with four of those victories coming in the UFC after making his debut in late 2014.
Cejudo also has a gold medal in freestyle wrestling from the 2008 Olympics following an incredible run in Beijing, China after skipping out on the college circuit and moving straight into international competition.
If Cejudo wants another gold to add to his collection, he's going to have to beat one of the top pound-for-pound fighters in the sport and hand Johnson his first loss at 125 pounds.
Johnson vs. Cejudo joins the light heavyweight main event in which Daniel Cormier takes on Jon Jones.
UFC 197 goes down on April 23 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
