DC: “I need to make a statement”

Published Oct. 18, 2013 1:00 a.m. ET

Olympic wrestler and unbeaten UFC heavyweight Daniel Cormier will be pulling double duty this weekend at UFC 166.

Not only with the American Kickboxing Academy wrestling coach be there to support his close friend and training partner Cain Velasquez as he defends his UFC heavyweight title against Junior dos Santos, but “DC” will be stepping into the cage himself, taking on durable knockout artist Roy Nelson in the penultimate fight of the night.

In this interview with UFC correspondent Joanna Zanella, the affable Cormier discusses the training he’s done with Velasquez to prepare for a third encounter with “Cigano” on Saturday night, and his own preparations leading up to his showdown with “Big Country.”

He also mentions a recent belt promotion once or twice as well, not that he’s overly excited about it or anything.
