Dana White: We care about the troops
Following a great night of fights for an even greater cause, UFC president Dana White talked with FOX Sports’ Ariel Helwani about the special Fight for the Troops event, which is the third in the company’s history.
What helped foster this relationship between the UFC and the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund was a sobering look at a sad reality that our service men and women do not get the treatment they desperately need when returning home from military conflicts. “I went and visited some of these troops that are injured - whether it is burn victims, amputees, traumatic brain injury - and one of the things that really blew me away when I was first introduced to this organization was we don’t take care of our troops when we come back from war,” states White whose first two Fight for the Troops events raised a combined $14 million for the worthy charity.
As for the the action inside the Octagon itself at Fort Campbell, White sounded equally impressed with the respective winners of the main event, Tim Kennedy, and co-main event, Alexis Davis. “His next fight will be a very important fight,” tells White about what former Special Forces sniper Kennedy has to look forward to in his next outing. Helwani ended with asking about Davis possibly getting a title shot next to which White responded, “I don’t know if she’s done enough, but she’s looked damn good tonight.”
