Dan Hooker quickly is becoming one of the most exciting fighters to watch in the featherweight division, as he picked up another impressive victory with a mounted guillotine choke to put away Mark Eddiva on Saturday in the first round in Australia.
Hooker has been a fun addition to the 145-pound weight class, with a nasty TKO victory by elbow strikes in his debut followed by a head-kick KO just two fights ago.
Now Hooker has his first submission victory in the Octagon with a slick guillotine choke used to put away Eddiva in a prelim bout that aired on FS1.
Eddiva made the mistake of latching onto Hooker's leg while looking for a high single leg takedown, but during his attempt, he left his head high and his neck exposed.
It didn't take long for Hooker to see the opening and grab Eddiva's neck with one arm while wrenching up on the hold with the other.
The fighters soon hit the mat and Hooker rolled to the mount where his choke only put more pressure on Eddiva's head and neck, and Eddiva had no choice but to tap out.
The stoppage came just 1:24 into the first round.
Hooker gets his third UFC win and first since joining the Elevation Fight Team out of Denver, where veteran fighters like TJ Dillashaw and Matt Brown recently migrated as well.
