Conor McGregor, Luke Rockhold medically suspended for up to six months

Published Dec. 15, 2015 10:58 a.m. ET

Conor McGregor and Luke Rockhold were both big winners, Saturday, at UFC 194 but may have to wait up to a half a year before getting to compete again. Both men were issued medical suspensions by the Nevada State Athletic Commission, pending required X-rays.

McGregor knocked Jose Aldo out with one straight left cross in the main event, and that was enough to injure his left wrist. Unless McGregor has an X-ray done on his left wrist and if that scan is positive, then he'll subsequently have to be cleared by a doctor, he is suspended from competition until June 12, 2016.

Luke Rockhold scored big and often with his left kick to the body of Chris Weidman, before stopping him in the fourth round. That same potent offense will require he get his left ankle and foot X-rayed and if that imaging is positive, then he'll need to be cleared by a doctor, or else he also will be medically suspended from competing until June 12, 2016.

Aldo was also medically suspended until Feb. 11, 2016. He is allowed no contact until Jan. 27 as well. Weidman was knocked around pretty badly and likely concussed, yet his suspension only requires that he have both feet X-rayed.

If those tests are positive, Weidman will need to be cleared by a doctor or he will be suspended until Feb. 11, with no contact allowed until Jan. 27.
