Conor McGregor loves beating people up for lots of money
There are a lot of high-paying jobs in the world, but for Conor McGregor there's nothing better than asserting his physical dominance over another competitor in the Octagon and then going home with a whole lot of cash in his bank account.
In just six fights in the UFC, McGregor has become one of the highest paid athletes in the sport and he's looking to cash in again when he faces Jose Aldo next Saturday night in Las Vegas.
While talking to Jimmy Kimmel this week, McGregor admitted there's just no better occupation for him than beating up people for large sums of money.
"It is an extremely fun job. It is a crazy, beautiful, out-of-body experience beating people up for lots of money," McGregor said. "You'd have to experience it for yourself to go in there and be in that pure environment, it's a beautiful feeling. You talk to people for lots of money -- I beat people up for lots of money.
"I'm sure when you're sitting here talking to people you wish you could beat them up for the money you're getting for talking to them. I actually do get to beat them up."
McGregor has backed up his words in the Octagon with six wins in a row (five by knockout or TKO), including his interim featherweight title victory over Chad Mendes in July.
McGregor likes to talk a big game. And while he has admiration for any fighter willing to go to war with him, no one has quite earned his respect as of yet in the UFC.
As a matter of fact, McGregor will even tell them that in the middle of a fight.
"I certainly let them know that they hit weak, that they fight like a baby," McGregor said. "I certainly talk to them in there. It's been smooth sailing so far.
"If it happens, I'll give respect -- 'You do hit hard' -- but it hasn't happened just yet. Nobody has hit me hard enough to make me say you don't fight like a b---h."
On paper it certainly appears Aldo will be the person to earn McGregor's respect considering he's a seven-time defending champion, but then again the outspoken Irishman has already predicted a first-round finish in their fight.
McGregor might also want to brush up on his Portuguese if he wants to enjoy his normal in-fight chatter while facing the Brazilian next Saturday night in Las Vegas.
