Cole Miller suffers broken hand in win over Sam Sicilia

Published Jan. 16, 2014 1:14 a.m. ET

Cole Miller celebrated on Wednesday night after picking up an impressive victory over Sam Sicilia all while fighting in front of home state friends and family in Georgia.

It was Miller's second win in a row and third in his past four fights putting him on a path for a potentially big fight in the featherweight division for his next bout in 2014.

Unfortunately, Miller's happy night was cut a little short after the doctors examined his hand following the win over Sicilia.

"It's broken," Miller confirmed about his swollen hand covered by an ice bag at the UFC Fight Night post fight press conference.  "I'm going to go and get it check it out tomorrow and see if I need surgery."

Following his win on Wednesday, Miller took the opportunity to call out Donald 'Cowboy' Cerrone, who has been a long time rival of his ever since the fighters came into the UFC.  Miller invited Cerrone to drop down to featherweight and he would even foot the bill for a nutritionist to work with him to ensure he made weight.

Cerrone will actually be competing at lightweight next weekend at FOX UFC Saturday in Chicago, but regardless of the outcome with Miller's hand putting him on the shelf for at least a little while the grudge match may have to wait.

Miller will see doctors on Thursday to find out the extend of the damage and then he will find out how severe the break was and if there will be surgery or a longer period of time away from fighting.
