Cody Garbrandt smashes Takeya Mizugaki, calls out Dominick Cruz

LAS VEGAS — Cody Garbrandt may have just secured a title shot following another spectacular first round finish at UFC 202 on Saturday night.

It took the Ohio native less than one minute to finish veteran bantamweight Takeya Mizugaki to move to 10-0 in his career and 5-0 in the UFC.

As soon as the fight started, Garbrandt was head hunting Mizugaki as the two fighters stood in the center of the Octagon and started winging punches at each other.

Unfortunately for Mizugaki, his fire power just couldn't match Garbrandt and he got caught with a short right hand that absolutely blasted him in the jaw.

Mizugaki went down and Garbrandt followed with another quick right hand that flattened his opponent as the referee started to move closer as the finish loomed imminent.

Garbrandt jumped to the mat where he pounded away with a couple more hammer fists and that was more than enough for the fight to be stopped.

Garbrandt's win came at just 48-seconds into the first round as he earns his second straight first round knockout.

Following the fight, UFC commentator Joe Rogan asked Garbrandt about a potential title fight against Dominick Cruz and he sent a harrowing message to the current bantamweight champion.

"I'm going to break your jaw," Garbrandt said to Cruz, who is in the arena working as an analyst for FOX.

Considering the reception Garbrandt received all week long with another showcase win at UFC 202 it's hard to imagine that he's not at the top of the list to receive the next shot at Cruz later this year.
