Cardale Jones responds to Paige VanZant's call out

Published Jun. 17, 2016 3:33 p.m. ET

It looks like Paige VanZant is ready to defend the turf about her nickname even if that means tackling Buffalo Bills quarterback Cardale Jones.

VanZant recently went on "FOX Sports Live" where she called out Jones for using "12 Gauge" as his nickname and like this was a sequel to "The Highlander", there can be only one.

"We both have the name "12 Gauge" -- let's fight over it," VanZant said.

Well, on Friday Jones responded and it doesn't seem like he's ready to challenge the UFC strawweight for the nickname, but he promises there's only one real "12 Gauge" in sports.

Jones is no stranger to mixing it up with the best women's fighters in the world.

Last year, Jones made his best attempt to score a date with former UFC women's bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey, but alas he fell short after she instead starting going out with fellow Octagon veteran Travis Browne instead.

This time around, Jones faces off with a "Dancing with the Stars" runner-up and top 10 UFC strawweight.

Our money is on VanZant to come away victorious in the battle of the nicknames.
