ATT head Dan Lambert: I have nothing against Blackzilian fighters
The most recent episode of It's Time with Bruce Buffer delivers more behind-the-scenes details of the rivalry between American Top Team and the Blackzilians. ATT team owner Dan Lambert pulls no punches in describing Blackzilian leader Glenn Robinson.
"Don't play tough guy," Robinson told co-hosts Buffer and TJ De Santis.
"You just don't fit."
According to the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu blackbelt and ATT co-founder, the animus between he and his counterpart at Blackzilians is not an act for The Ultimate Fighter cameras. "They don't have to cue us up at all," he said.
"That's 100 percent authentic."
Not only is the dislike real, Lambert predicts that it is likely to be lasting. The chances of his putting differences aside and becoming friendly with Robinson one day are slim, according to Lambert.
"I don't like Glenn. I don't like him as a person, I don't like how he handles himself. I think he's phony. No, I would never be friends with a guy like that," he said.
Though Robinson will never be Lambert's kind of guy, the ATT head was careful to say that it is only the Blackzilian boss that he has a problem with, not the rest of the team. "I really have nothing against the guys at his gym - the fighters at his gym, the coaches at his gym - I really don't have anything against the guys that left our gym," Lambert claimed.
"I don't blame a guy for leaving a gym when a guy is willing to pay you a lot of money just to go to his place and train and stroke his ego. So the rivalry between the gyms, at least from my stand point, isn't fighter to fighter, coach to coach. I just don't like the guy behind the team. I just don't like Glenn. That's it. That's as deep as it goes."
