Andrei Arlovski vs. Francis Ngannou added to UFC on FOX 23
Andrei Arlovski vs. Francis Ngannou has officially been added to UFC on FOX 23.
A heavyweight fight between former champion Andrei Arlovski and the hulking Francis Ngannou has been added to UFC on FOX 23 in Denver.
The bout was made official during Wednesday’s edition of UFC Tonight.
Arlovski (25-13) will be looking to snap one of the roughest patches of his career. In his most recent outing, ‘The Pitbull’ was caught in a third round submission by fellow former champion Josh Barnett at UFC Fight Night 93 in September.
This marked his third straight stoppage loss after previously being knocked out by reigning champ Stipe Miocic and former title contender Alistair Overeem. To date, 20 of Arlovski’s 25 career wins have ending with stoppage, including 17 by way of (T)KO.
Ngannou (9-1) has emerged as one of the hottest prospects in the UFC’s heavyweight division. In his most recent fight, the man known as ‘Predator’ submitted Anthony Hamilton at UFC Fight Night 102 last Friday. This not only pushed his win streak to eight straight but also marked his fourth stoppage win inside the Octagon.
Prior to his win over Hamilton, Ngannou starched Bojan Mihajlović a little over 60 seconds into their fight at UFC on FOX 20 in July.
UFC on FOX 23 will go down on Jan. 28 card at Denver’s Pepsi Center.
