Anderson Silva: 'Jon Jones taught me a few things'

With UFC 182 fast-approaching, everyone is making their picks on the grudge match main event between light heavyweight champ Jon Jones and challenger Daniel Cormier. "Bones" recently got a pretty ringing endorsement from no less than former middleweight champion and GOAT contender Anderson Silva.

As you may remember, Jones and Silva recently got together and did some training, in private. All we got were some photos of the historic workout.

At a recent press conference, however, "The Spider" wasn't shy in his praise of Jones. According to the Brazilian, the young champion taught him some things, and has the potential to become the biggest American star in all of MMA.

"It was a normal training, he did a few things, and I did a few things. It was a tough training for both of us. We learned a lot. He taught me a few things I didn't know," Silva said.

"I gave him a few tips. I like him a lot, and it was cool."

According to the returning middleweight great, he and Jones have been friends for awhile. Though Silva wasn't willing to concede that Jones is set to become the best ever, he did give a qualified estimation of just how big Jones can get that would still allow for Brazilian champs like Silva himself to be ranked above.

"He has his history, he's building [his career]," Silva said. "He's young and has everything to become the biggest name of the sport in his country."

We can't wait to see if Jones will put any new tricks on display this Saturday in the main event of UFC 182 against Cormier. Perhaps we'll also see Silva do a little bit of a Jones impersonation when he fights Nick Diaz at UFC 183 next month.
