ATLANTA (AP) Second-seeded Nick Kyrgios of Australia advanced to the BB&T Atlanta Open semifinals Friday, beating fifth-seeded Fernando Verdasco of Spain 6-4, 6-7 (5), 6-3.

The winner in Marseille, France, in February for his lone tour title, Kyrgios was coming off a rain-interrupted victory over Jared Donaldson late Thursday.

Kyrgios will face Japan's Yoshihito Nishioka, a 6-4, 6-4 winner over Argentina's Horacio Zeballos.

Three-time defending champion John Isner and three other Americans played at night. The 6-foot-10 Isner faced eighth-seeded Taylor Fritz, and seventh-seeded Donald Young played 6-foot-11 Reilly Opelka. Isner played at the University of Georgia and has reached the finals in Atlanta five of the previous six years.
