Kevin Doyle and Matt Jarvis scored in the first half to give Wolverhampton Wanderers a 2-0 win over Fulham for its second straight victory to start the Premier League season.

Doyle put the hosts ahead in the 42nd when he collected a pass from Jarvis and sent a shot past Mark Schwarzer. Jarvis doubled the lead before the break, pouncing on a rebound after Roger Johnson's header had come back off the woodwork.

The result means Wolves, who beat Blackburn 2-1 in the first round, have recorded back-to-back league wins at the start of a campaign for the first time since the 1998-99 season.

Doyle had a good chance to put Wolves ahead after 30 minutes when he beat defender Brede Hangeland to a ball and rounded Schwarzer, but sent his shot over the bar.

But Doyle made amends when he received the ball from Jarvis, skipped away from two defenders, turned and lashed it beyond Schwarzer into the net.

Jarvis then sent a curling shot narrowly off target before making it 2-0 in first-half stoppage time, tucking away the rebound after Roger Johnson had headed Hunt's cross against the post.

Fulham looked set to pull a goal back in the 79th when a rebound fell to the feet of Clint Dempsey, but Stephen Ward made a last-ditch tackle.

The loss leaves Fulham manager Martin Jol still looking for his first league win with his new club, having drawn with Aston Villa at home last weekend.
