Valencia midfielder Sergio Canales has made its squad for the first time since recovering from a second consecutive rupture of his ligament in the left knee.

The 21-year-old Canales had been sidelined for nine months since injuring his leg a second time last April.

The former Real Madrid and Racing Santander player had previously been out for six months after originally tearing his ligament in October 2011.

Valencia hosts Madrid in the Spanish league on Sunday. It is in seventh place after winning its last three games.
