The United States squad has released forward Justin Braun and defender Ugo Ihemelu from its training camp ahead of a friendly against Chile because of injury.

Braun will be sidelined for a week after being hurt Tuesday, needing four stitches to close a cut near his left Achilles' tendon.

The U.S. Soccer Federation said Wednesday that Ihemelu has been affected by hip and groin injuries and was let go after six days of training.

The U.S. opens its 2011 schedule against Chile on Jan. 22 at Carson.
