Switzerland winger Johan Vonlanthen tells Swiss daily Blick that he has retired from football at the age of 26.

Vonlanthen became the youngest scorer in the history of European Championship when he scored for Switzerland against France at the Euro 2004 at the age of 18. France won the group match 3-1.

He took the record from England's Wayne Rooney, who briefly held the title of the youngest scorer at the tournament eight years ago after scoring against Switzerland at the age of 19.

Vonlanthen moved to Columbia last year to play for Itagui. He also played for Salzburg and FC Zurich.
