Former Brazil international Paulo Silas is the new coach of Qatar club Al Arabi, on a one-year contract.
Silas, who made 37 appearances and played in two World Cups from 1986 to 1992 for his country, becomes the fourth South American to coach a Qatar Stars League side.
He joins compatriots Sebastiao Lazzaroni of Qatar Sports Club, Paulo Autuori of Al Rayyan, and Pericles Chamusca of Al Jaish in the 12-team Qatari league.
The 46-year-old Silas takes over from Chamusca. His appointment was announced late Tuesday by the club.
