Shakhtar signs Nem Wellington on 5-year deal

Shakhtar Donetsk has signed attacking midfielder Nem Wellington on a five-year contract from Brazilian club Fluminense.

The 21-year-old Brazilian said Friday at a news conference that he is ready for European football, adding that Shakhtar's numerous players from his country helped in his decision.

He says ''I know this club is used to winning, so that is why I signed, but the club's Brazilian contingent was also a factor.''

Shakhtar won its fourth consecutive Ukrainian league championship this season.

Wellington has three international caps for Brazil and won last year's league title with Fluminense. He has scored 24 goals since beginning his professional career in 2011.
