MANCHESTER, England -- Ryan Giggs has ended his 29-year association with Manchester United, leaving the coaching staff at the fallen English Premier League power at the start of Jose Mourinho's reign.
Giggs says ''the time feels right and, although I have no immediate plans to step into management, it is where I want to be.''
The 42-year-old Giggs joined United in 1987 as a 14-year-old player and went on to appear a record 963 times for the first team, mostly under Alex Ferguson.

Giggs says ''it's time for a new chapter and a new challenge. I'm excited about the future - I've had the best apprenticeship into management anyone could ever ask for.''
