Roma signs Ajax goalkeeper Stekelenburg
Roma has signed Holland goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg for a fee in excess of 6million euros from Ajax.
World Cup finalist Stekelenburg becomes new coach Luis Enrique's latest signing in a busy summer of rebuilding at the Stadio Olimpico, which has seen six new faces arrive.
The 28-year-old keeper, whose contract at Ajax had a year remaining, travelled to Rome at the weekend for a medical and agreed a four-year deal before completing the transfer.
The deal includes additional clauses which will see Dutch champions Ajax receive a further payment if and when Stekelenburg signs a new deal or moves elsewhere, plus a bonus if it qualifies for the Champions League.
Roma has already signed the likes of Bojan Krkic and Gabriel Heinze during the close season.
