Boca Juniors midfielder Juan Roman Riquelme has had left knee
surgery, which is likely to keep him out of the early part of next
season.
Riquelme had surgery in Buenos Aires on Wednesday, after
picking up the injury in the penultimate game of the season against
Argentinos Juniors.
It has been a difficult year for Riquelme, a former Argentina
international who has been overlooked for a place on the national
team by Diego Maradona, who took over the team late in 2008.
