Ridgewell: England must take Hart

Hart has had an outstanding season on loan from Manchester City and was included in the PFA Premier League team of the year. He is staying at Blues for the remainder of the campaign after a bid from City to bring him back to Eastlands for the finale to ease their goalkeeping crisis failed to bear fruit. But Ridgewell has no doubts that Hart has the capabilities to be a major part of England's bid for glory under Fabio Capello this summer. He said: "Joe is a superb keeper. I am sure he will go to the World Cup. "He is a great keeper with a great presence. "If a team gets through you, they've still got to beat Joe and he has been fantastic. "On form, he is the best English keeper at present. Definitely. I don't think anyone is playing as well as him. "It would be no surprise to me if he started in the World Cup to be honest and he wouldn't let England down." Ridgewell is hoping that Birmingham can retain the services of Hart for another season, although Shay Given's dislocated shoulder may dash those hopes. He said: "If we can keep hold of Joe for another year, it will be a bonus for us. "The whole of our team has done well this season, back in the Premier League for the first time. "But Joe has been fantastic, has made crucial saves and earned us plenty of points."
